I give thanks to you, O Lord my God, with my whole heart, and I will glorify your name forever’
Living a life of gratitude is something that you have to intentionally decide to do. It doesn’t just happen. It is about adjusting your attitude to life and the circumstances that, on a daily basis, affect us. It is about making up your mind not to be a complainer but a praiser: ‘Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you (I Thessalonians 5v18).
When you live a life of gratitude, what comes with it is joy as you learn how to be appreciative and happy for even the little, insignificant things in life. With an attitude of gratitude you experience peace, and remain unaffected by things that come to unsettle your heart. But it takes a step of faith. You don’t know what the day will bring, but by faith you trust that you will be able to be thankful and filled with gratitude, no matter what. It is expressed through love. Your attitude towards those you encounter will be positive, even towards those that try to unsettle your peace of mind. So slow down, step back, think about God’s goodness in your life and you will feel His love flow through you to others.
Gratitude is waking up each morning and acknowledging God’s grace for the day ahead, and still giving him thanks at the end of the day, no matter what you may have experienced.
So living a life of gratitude is a life style choice! What quality of life do you choose to live? Make the decision now, allowing God to help you change your attitude and make the decision to live a life of gratitude from today.
